Year 13 Leavers

 

Year 13 WGS leavers' sweatshirts are available to order and personalise until midnight on Friday 20 April. Students should use the link to the online shop (available on the School intranet, in the Sixth Form area).

 

The Year 13 Leavers' Ball is on Friday 18 May (the day after they leave) from 7.00-10.00pm at the Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel, Sandford. Letters will be coming home with students shortly.

Study Leave - Sixth Form

Year 12 are on study leave from Monday 14 May until Friday 1 June 2012, when they resume and commence their A2 Level studies.
 
Year 13 finish on Thursday 17 May. Their Leavers' Ball is on Friday 18 May 2012 e Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel at Sandford.

Reviews

Review 3 will be coming home with students at the end of this term for Years 11, 12 and 13.

Year 13 University Applicants

Important notice to parents/carers of Year 13 university applicants.

The 2012/13 Student Finance England service opened on 14 December 2011. Students should apply now at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance.

AS Psychology Students

Parents of students taking AS Psychology may like to know that revision classes are held every Monday and Tuesday lunchtime between now and Christmas. Please encourage your son/daughter to attend.

Year 13 Consortium Higher Education Evening

Year 13 students who are considering university entrance, are invited, along with their parents, to the second of our Higher Education talks.  A guest from Oxford Brookes University will be speaking about Student Finance applications and answering questions afterwards. The event takes place on Thursday 29 September from 7.00 – 8.00pm in the main Hall.

A Level results will be available to collect by students on Thursday 18 August between 10.00 and 11.00am. As is the normal practice, no-one else else may collect a student's results, unless that student has submitted a signed letter (not email) giving his/her permission and naming that person. Such letters should be marked for the attention of the Examinations Officer, Miss Edgeler.

Our Sixth Form 'Drop In' Advice Clinic will be open from 9.00am until 12.00pm on Friday 19 August, in the Sixth Form Centre.

 

Year 13 Student Finance Reminder

Student Finance England opened on 16 March and closes 31 May.

Please ensure your son/daughter completes and sends their finance application asap. They do not need to have received all their offers or finalised their university choices. Accommodation details for example, can be completed later on, right up to when they start university.

S.F.E. are simplifying the process this year somewhat. Many parents/sponsors will not have to provide financial evidence this year due to enhanced links with the Inland Revenue, speeding the process up, but it will still be a tight turnaround.

They say they will process the majority of new applications for student finance which depends on household income (means-tested) without asking customers to send in financial evidence. When they do ask customers to send financial evidence, they will only ask for copies of documents and not originals.

Year 13 UCAS

Yr 13 have been reminded to check their UCAS Track for the date by which they need to reply.

Normally if students have heard from all their universities by 31 March, they must reply by 5 May

UCAS EXTRA opened at the end of February, showing courses with vacancies. Students will see an EXTRA button on their UCAS Track if they have:
- already made five choices
- received decisions from all these choices, and
- either had no offers or declined all the offers you they received
