Wood Green School Community Arts Workshops April - June 2012

Life Drawing with Karen Lord Sat 19th May
Cost £12/£10 concessions. Materials provived. Suitable for ages 16+
All levels of experience welcome. Karen will be on hand to offer guidance and support when you need it.

Singing with Kath Lucas Sat 12th May & Sat 23rd June
Cost £10/£8 concessions. Suitable for ages 14+
These workshops are suitable for experienced singers as well as beginners of all ages, newcomers always welcome. Learn at your own pace, create harmonies and experience the joy of singing together.

NEW! Bookbinding: Non Japanese Stab Binding with Sue Bovington Sat 16th June
Cost £20/£18 concessions. Materials provided. Suitable for ages 14+
In this workshop we will make a number of soft backed books, using Indian Cotton Rag Paper for the covers. The workshop is all about experimenting with the materials, colour combinations and a diverse range of objects to hold the binding stiches in place.

Printmaking with Catherine Kennedy Sat 30th June
Cost £15/£12 concessions. Materials provided. Suitable for ages 14+
Participants are guided through the process of choosing/adapting a suitable design, transferring this to onto adigraph and cutting the design out then making prints which are yours to take away at the end. Please bring a design idea you would like to work on or you can follow tutor guidance.

Wood Green School Community Arts Workshops

 Life Drawing Sat 7th May & 11th June 10am-1pm £12/£10 concessions.
Tutor Karen Lord leads these popular sessions suitable for all ages 16+. All welcome, participants each work at their own pace and level with Karen on hand to offer guidance and advice if needed.
 
Printmaking Sat 14th May 10am-12.30pm £15/£12 concessions.
Tutor Catherine Kennedy leads these fun and creative workshops. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, aged 16+. All materials are provided. You are welcome to bring an idea you want to work on or follow tutor guidance. This workshop can also provide the opportunity for participants to continue working on prints made in previous workshops.
 
Singing Sat 21st May & 2nd July £10/£8 concessions.
Workshops focus on learning songs from a Songbook compiled by tutor Kath Lucas. These workshops are suitable for experienced singers as well as beginners of all ages, newcomers always welcome. Learn at your own pace create harmonies and experience the joy of singing together. 
 
Simple Book Structures workshop with Sue Bovington Sat 18th June 10am-1pm £18/£16 concessions
Learn how to make a variety of multi-page books from single sheets of paper using simple folds and cuts, followed by two  concertina book structures and a pamphlet stitched notebook. If time allows we will also look at Japanese stab-binding. All materials are provided.  Workshop suitable for ages 16+.

Art Exhibition

Wood Green School Student Art Exhibition is taking place at Chipping Norton Theatre from Friday 4th February - Sunday 13th February. 

The show will feature art work from students in Years 7-13 as well as the winners of the recent Art Competition. The exhibition is open 11am-3pm on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and during all live performances and screenings.

Music Community News

Music Teacher Miss Hammond and Ms Attwood (violin teacher) took a group of students to Madley Park Care Home on 20th October to provide an afternoon of musical entertainment for the residents.

It was very much enjoyed, and the students are to be congratulated on both their community spirit and performance. Our thanks go to Emily Chapman and Megan Wilks (yr7), Grace Harrison, Sarah Gardener and Raymond Brien (yr8), Joe Brown and Nick Roebuck (yr9), Lucy James and Mollie Huckin (yr11), Charlie Harrison, Agne Grineviciute and Martha Huckin (yr12), Rupert Welply and Connie Triggs (yr13).

Students Who Play in the School Bands

Students who play in the school bands should pick up a Music Department Newsletter from the department about events etc

Choral Competition - Diary Date Change

Please note that the Year 7 choral competition is being postponed until the new year; it was scheduled for this Thursday 4th November.

Anyone who has already bought tickets can obtain a refund from the Finance Office. Our apologies for any inconvenience.
