Parents of students in lower school may be interested to see the attached list of key words, which all students should be able to write and spell correctly. Students can check their own ability by testing themselves and recording their result under the R and Sp columns (read and spell), for example with a tick for okay and a dot for ‘I need to work on it’.
To learn spellings, it is suggested that students use the ‘look, say, cover, write, check’ method that they already know from primary school.
These words apparently make up 65% of all the words we read and use, so they are worth knowing!
